How to correct a lazy S-meter on a SUPER STAR 360FM (PB010AB)
Duration: 11:19
How to correct a lazy S-meter on a SUPER STAR 360FM (PB010) CB/HAM-radio or Cobra 148 GTL DX? It's an old known problem with the lazy needle. Some old Superstars and cobras don't showing signal levels less than S-5. In some CB-radios (CYBERNET) is the S-meter rectifier made of one or two germanium diodes (1N60). But some Superstars, Galaxys and clones do have silicon diodes (1S2075 or 1N4148) in the S-meter rectifier. A silicon diode is starting with a forward voltage of abt. 0.6 Volts. Germanium diodes strats abt. 0.25 Volts. That's very important to detect very low signal levels. The OA95 (Philips) Ge-diode is working very good. Now I'm very happy with this modification.
